Ron Paul speaking @ CPAC 2009.

CPAC (Conservative Political Activist Conference) will be February 18-20th 2010 in Washington DC.
We are putting in a program proposal for $2K from the Finance Committee/SGA. The main expenses are going to be food, transportation, hotels and registration. If we can get most of it covered (aka hotels) by the school then you’re looking at spending around $125 total. If we don’t get it covered the price will go up considerably since hotels are going to be pricey. Either way we will fundraise and this is going to be a great event. Gary and Brenden have lots of connections for tours and anyone interested in politics at all will really get a lot out of this!

Important: In order to ask for money from the Finance Committee we need a list of people who are seriously committed on going…meaning you MUST register for this event BEFORE Thanksgiving Break. Once you register please forward your registration info to brenden.higashi@student.shu.edu.

More meeting news after the cut!

Other news:

T-Shirts! Yay! The design is really cool and I think you guys will like them a lot. We have already been approved for $700 to put towards the shirts so we should have them before the end of the semester. We will sell them for $12. Before we sell them to the general public we will sell them @ 2 CR meetings so you guys can get first dibs and wear them to pique interest! :)

(Potential)Fundraisers:

Toys for Tots (co-sponsored w/ Allies) -We would do this the week after Thanksgiving Break, but publicize it before hand so everyone has a chance to get a toy over break.

USO (United Service Organizations) Concernt In case you’re not familar with the USO here’s a little blurb:
“The USO is a congressionally chartered, nonprofit organization, and is not a part of the federal government. Since 1941, the USO mission has remained the same: to provide morale, welfare and recreation-type services to service members and their families.”
This would be our big fundraiser for the year, bring in a bunch of local bands and sell tickets for $5 and have all proceeds go to the USO.

The point of all these activities is to boost our image on campus and do something good! :)
