Hey everyone.

I just wanted to share some images from some events that I have attended thanks to my involvement in the College Republicans.  This should give you an idea of some of the places that membership and dedication can take you.

Getting the word out for Chris Christie!

Getting the word out for Chris Christie!

Hey guys!

A big thank you to everyone who came out tonight for the phone bank. It was a ton of fun, and Amanda Gasperino, former SHU CRs president (and current Statewide Political Director for the Chris Christie for Governor campaign) was here to help us out. Together we made over 2000 calls!

Congrats to Matt Gilson, who made the most calls…I think over 200. He won an autographed Chris Christie poster.

Photos to come, and next week we will be ratifying our new constitution and also electing a Freshman Representative to our E-Board.

Thanks again, and see you all next week!

Check out the Fbook page for more photos.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Rutgers does not believe that we can have a good phone bank.  We have been challenged to make 2000 phone calls in one week.

Here is what you need to know.

Amanda Gasperino, former SHU CRs President and Chris Christie for Governor Political Director, will be forced to wear RUTGERS SHIRTS if we don’t make 2000 phone calls.  Why do we care? We care because she is one of our own, and we never leave anyone alone like that.

We will be doing this on Wednesday and in order to make this worth our while, Amanda has agreed to bring us pizza and prizes.

The top caller may get an autographed Christie/Guadagno sign and there will be other prizes.

Amanda will be present to psych us up and lead the charge.

We will be in Nursing 109.  We need every call we can get so be there anytime after six.

We will do some chapter business at some point too, but beating Rutgers is priority #1.

Seton Hall Unveristy College Republicans E-Board w/ Jay Webber

Seton Hall University College Republicans E-Board w/ Jay Webber

Last night, NJGOP Chairman and Assemblyman for the 26th District, Jay Webber came out and spoke at our inaugural meeting of the 09-10 school year.

Jay Webber spoke out about the gubernatorial race in NJ this year, between Republican Chris Christie and incumbent Democrat Jon Corzine. Jay kept his presentation very topical, talking about how he wants to fix the economy of NJ, where Corzine has created a $9 billion dollar deficit. Additionally, Corzine has raised property taxes 17%, making it more and more expensive to live in NJ. Webber envisions lowering the taxes so that NJ student residents can stay in NJ after graduation and find jobs in their home state.

This is a really exciting race for NJ Republicans, who haven’t won a statewide race since 1997. Jay mentioned that the election is a means to an end, not an end in itself and that the work doesn’t end once the race is won…it’s just the beginning.

A few of the links on the blogroll on the right-hand column are there on my suggestion. Here are the three blogs that I use the most, hopefully you all might find one of them useful:

Hot Air – think of it as a sexy-looking Drudge Report. This is an up to the minute clearinghouse of conservative (with a libertarian streak) news, with some narrative/editorialization accompanying it. Always guaranteed to hook you up with the big breaking story. It’s smart and snarky! continue reading…

Dear College Republicans,

I am excited to begin this new year with you as we fight to get Republicans elected all over New Jersey starting first and foremost with ensuring that Chris Christie is our next governor.

As many of you already know, our first meeting is this Wednesday night, September 16, at 8:30pm in Jubilee Hall room 118.  If you don’t know how to get there, we will make sure that someone is outside to direct you.

In order to start the year off right, we have invited the Chairman of the New Jersey Republican Party, Jay Webber, to come and speak at our meeting.  He will speak about conservative principles, Republican platforms, and tell us why it is imperative to the success of the party that we get involved and are energetic about this campaign.

I look forward to meeting all of you Wednesday night.

Sincerely,

Gary R. La Spisa, II

President, Seton Hall College Republicans

First let me welcome you to the official website of the Seton Hall College Republicans.

The beauty of this forum is that we can have our own place and our own voice to express how we feel on vital issues facing our university, our state, our nation and our world.

The executive board and I have been working all summer to come up with a plan for this semester so that we can accomplish the following goals:

  1. Get Chris Christie elected governor.
  2. Contribute to electoral victories in New Jersey Legislative Districts 36, 27, 26, 25; Morris County; Sussex County; Essex County; Bergen County and elsewhere.
  3. Host Republican / Conservative speakers on campus.
  4. Co-host debates with the other political clubs on campus.
  5. Prove that the Seton Hall Community has a strong and active Republican party presence.

At a later date we will be posting our full calender for the semester, including a visit from the Chairman of the New Jersey Republican Party, Jay Webber, on September 16th.

I look forward to a great year.

Sincerely,

Gary R. La Spisa, II

Below the break is the Transcript of the speech that sparked the comeback.  The speech that, then Governor of California, Ronald Reagan gave at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in 1975.  In the wake of a disastrous election, Ronald Reagan gave these words which echo even louder today.
