Dear Friends,

The Seton Hall University College Republicans are proud to announce our support of Roland Straten for Congress in New Jersey’s 8th Congressional District.

With our endorsement of Straten, we join with the New Jersey College Republicans and the College Republican National Committee to demand that the Obama administration and United States Congress end their fiscal irresponsibility. College Republicans nationwide are stepping up, telling Members of Congress, the United States Senate and the Obama White House to stop putting “their debt on our tab.” To Congressman Pascrell, we say “Don’t Your Debt On Our Tab.”

Pascrell has “served” New Jersey’s 8th District since 1996. In that time, he has voted consistently with Democratic leadership to increase the size government, to increase taxes and to increase spending, setting our nation on an unsustainable path. Should Americans continue to send legislators like Bill Pascrell to Washington, D.C., America could very well become the next Greece. America is, in fact, not “too big to fail” as Democratic leaders have told us.

Pascrell’s votes for bailout programs, stimulus packages, and Obamacare, among others, have increased our national debt and budget deficit to unseen levels. In the past year along, Obama and Pelosi, with Pascrell’s support have increased the national debt ceiling by its largest one-time increase in history and expanded the federal deficit to record levels. With national debt fast approaching $13 trillion and the release of an Obama budget that will double that debt in 10 years, it is time to send real change to Washington.

Roland Straten embodies change. As a small businessman, Straten knows that budgets ought to be balanced and creating surpluses, rather than driving us deeper into debt. Straten stands for smaller government with less regulation, so that businesses may flourish and set us on a path towards true economic recovery and sustained growth. Straten knows that true recovery and job production lie in the private sector, rather than in the public sector. He would vote for the repeal of Obamacare and push for more individual freedom, choice and ownership in insurance options. Straten supports increasing the supply of energy through maximizing existing resources in environmentally friendly ways while promoting the use of renewable energy sources. Straten believes the future of America lies in our children and supports education reforms that will help make the American education system competitive with the rest of the world once more.

As College Republicans, we know that the future of America is in our youth. We have watched as a president who promised “change” as a candidate has failed and has given us more of the same, failed big goverment policies and so-called solutions that have failed throughout our nation’s history. It is time we demand that current leaders stop saddling our generation, and our grandchildren’s generation, with their debt. It is time we bring real change to Washington, D.C. by sending candidates like Roland Straten to Congress, those who will help to ensure that the America their generation hands to our generation is every bit as great as when they received the reins.

Sincerely,

Brenden Higashi
Chairman, Seton Hall University College Republicans
