Conservatism is on the move.

All over the country conservatism is on the move.  On the eve of an election that does not have many big races is turning out to be a very big day.  The three big battle grounds this November 3rd are in New Jersey, Virginia, and an upstate New York Congressional district.  In all three of these races the poll numbers are showing that conservatives are doing very well and could sweep the day. continue reading…

What’s Wrong with the Status Quo:

New Jersey has, arguably, the worst tax burden in the United States: we have the very worst business tax climate in the nation, 3rd highest income taxes, 6th highest corporate taxes, the very highest per-capita property taxes, and above-average sales tax. No wonder our state is the least competitive state in the region for jobs.

Property tax relief (the biggest middle class squeeze) was promised in 2005 and has gotten progressively worse.

We are overtaxed and the state is broke. The solution of the current administration is to raise taxes and spend more. The rating of New Jersey bonds and debt have been devalued twice in the last five years–showing the market’s lack of confidence in our state’s IOUs. An $8 billion deficit has been left for the next administration.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Rutgers does not believe that we can have a good phone bank.  We have been challenged to make 2000 phone calls in one week.

Here is what you need to know.

Amanda Gasperino, former SHU CRs President and Chris Christie for Governor Political Director, will be forced to wear RUTGERS SHIRTS if we don’t make 2000 phone calls.  Why do we care? We care because she is one of our own, and we never leave anyone alone like that.

We will be doing this on Wednesday and in order to make this worth our while, Amanda has agreed to bring us pizza and prizes.

The top caller may get an autographed Christie/Guadagno sign and there will be other prizes.

Amanda will be present to psych us up and lead the charge.

We will be in Nursing 109.  We need every call we can get so be there anytime after six.

We will do some chapter business at some point too, but beating Rutgers is priority #1.

First let me welcome you to the official website of the Seton Hall College Republicans.

The beauty of this forum is that we can have our own place and our own voice to express how we feel on vital issues facing our university, our state, our nation and our world.

The executive board and I have been working all summer to come up with a plan for this semester so that we can accomplish the following goals:

  1. Get Chris Christie elected governor.
  2. Contribute to electoral victories in New Jersey Legislative Districts 36, 27, 26, 25; Morris County; Sussex County; Essex County; Bergen County and elsewhere.
  3. Host Republican / Conservative speakers on campus.
  4. Co-host debates with the other political clubs on campus.
  5. Prove that the Seton Hall Community has a strong and active Republican party presence.

At a later date we will be posting our full calender for the semester, including a visit from the Chairman of the New Jersey Republican Party, Jay Webber, on September 16th.

I look forward to a great year.

Sincerely,

Gary R. La Spisa, II

President, Seton Hall College Republicans

Below the break is the Transcript of the speech that sparked the comeback.  The speech that, then Governor of California, Ronald Reagan gave at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in 1975.  In the wake of a disastrous election, Ronald Reagan gave these words which echo even louder today.
